Through the eyes of others

Have you ever thought much about how others perceive you? I think it's quite a difficult thing to do, Fruitrock and I were talking about it over Christmas, and now she's done this amazing (and incredibly flattering) caricature of me I thought I'd share it with you, at least temporarily. Now you have some idea of how I look, does it match the mental image you had, and what kind of image do you think others carry around of you?

Yes for some reason i also thought you had brown hair!

That's weird 'cos I pictured you with dark hair too! And btw, I also perceive you to be just as gorgeous as your caricature!

It is amazing though how we jump to conclusions about people based on what we hear or see. I've always believed in the saying that "you should never judge a book by it's cover" and this definitely holds true in the world of disability.

Perception is an interesting concept in the blog world because we mostly depend on words to form opinions, and make an impression. I think that's what makes it so attractive, to me anyhow.

Like all the others I imagined you dark also, I really wouldn't like to think how others perceive me..xx

I actually had you down as blonde, having said that I wasn't expecting the hair to be quite so..... Big.

I probably put too many pictures up of me for anyone not to know what i look like.

most people I know though, don't know that I am shy.

It's very lifelike and she is a good artist! Albeit there is a bit of Michael Jackson in there, or have I had too many Baileys?

Middy: mmm Baileys! No you've not had too many, but you do have the unfair advantage of being the only person to have seen a picture of me. There is a touch of the Michael Jackson going on, I'm usually not even as tanned as the photo you've seen of me, I'm more a pale skinned translucent colour, rather than Liverpool tanning salon orange!

Pix: I would love to have hair that could be cut into styles like that, but as it's naturally curly it will only do as it pleases. I think thats the lovely thing about blogging though, we can be whatever, or however we chose to be.

Northerner: Aw, thank you. A fan!! x

Kim: TY, I like your photo too. I'm not that blonde in rl or naturally! x

lilwatchergirl: TY, funnily enough I was sat on a mobility scooter in the photo it was taken from! Your weemee sounds cool!

Spleenal: Big hair, big hair! Those are natural ringlets m'dear, think less Jersey Girl more bottecelli;) Having said that, it's an uncontrollable wreck...bit like the rest of me really heehee!

Emma: it is difficult to think of how others perceive us I reckon

Steph: TY. I also find that one of the big attractions about blogging is the lack of images, and having to form it with words. I wonder if that's one of the reasons blogging is so popular amongst the disability community, it allows all those barriers to be broken down and messages to be got across that otherwise would perhaps be ignored. x

Casdok and Vi, I wonder if that's because you're both darker haired? I'm not nearly that blonde in reality though! BG x
